2011 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The Louvre Museum has 8.5 million visitors per year. This blog was viewed about 100,000 times in 2011. If it were an exhibit at the Louvre Museum, it would take about 4 days for that many people to see it.

6 Inch Move Celebrates – 2nd Birthday

August is drawing to a close and that means something to those of us in the floating citadel!

It is now just over two years ago that our humble corner of the Internet unveiled itself. I’d like to say we are a light among the cesspit of the Internet but let’s be honest, most of the visitors here are probably stumbling across us looking for pictures of naked sisters of battle!

Personally I am very happy with where 6 Inch Move has gone so far. We now have well over 110,000 views, something that still excites me in such a short space of time. We even have people who subscribe to what we write…

Really all I can do is to thank those people who stop by and give us their time, your patronage is humbling and drives us to keep writing stuff that we hope you want to read (no, we can’t do naked sisters of battle!).

I’d also like to thank all the others who pen articles for this blog, your views and opinions make this site the place that gets those views, so thank you to everyone involved with what we do.

6 Inch Move – 100,000 Hits!

Last night the floating citadel received its 100,000th visitor! It’s not quite two years since the first version of this blog appeared on the Internet, trawling for table scraps to get a few visitors here and there. Now, just under 24 months later and we average around 300 hits a day!

Considering we started this to share our hobbies with no-one in particular it’s been interesting to see the blog grow and develop. We’ve welcomed on board some new authors over the time we’ve been going and I think we’re much better at doing things now than we were when we first crawled out of the primordial blogging ooze to share ourselves and our passions with all of you fine people that stop by.

I’m still amazed that we hit 100k hits so quick, either we’re pulling in people looking for other stuff by accident or people like what we do. I’d hope it’s the latter.

So, thank you Internet for making this place what it is and making it worthwhile to skive off work and make articles that literally a handful of people might want to read!

Look Who’s Behind Door Number 4

This may be posted after the event but I’d just like to extend a big 6 Inch Move welcome to the latest contributor to the site, nBreaker. As the rest of us on this site are somewhat veterans of pushing metal and plastic figurines around the tops of cleverly disguised dining room furniture our newest author should be able to bring a view of things that may escape us Longbeards. I am sure that I had thought up some highly amusing anecdotes with which to embellish this welcome, but, as with many things in life, I didn’t write them down and henceforth forgot. Trust me though, it was hilarious, just chuckle to yourself quietly and pretend I didn’t have a memory like a … wait… what am I doing again?

Oh, right!

So, welcome to the club nBreaker. Just watch out for Servitob’s dice rolling and things will be fine.
