Dropzone Commander Army Deals Part the Third

After I’ve tormented poor Carabus enough that I think he’s spent his afternoon communing with eldritch spirits and offering sacrifices of Adders,  Ocelots and west country virgins in order to afflict me with all kind of heinous diseases I thought I’d do a two-for and bring you the analysis of the next in line of the army deals, the Scour……. what?

Oh!

Here we go with the Post Human Republic then, taking their naming inspiration from Greek history and mythology and looking mighty snazzy to boot. Let’s start from the beginning.

The PHR Starter Army is a nice little starter, it does seem smaller than the others but the models are larger too;

3x Neptune Medium Dropships

2x Ares Battle Walkers

2x Phobos Battle Walkers

2x Juno A1 APCs

4x Immortals stands

1x 40 card full colour Command Card deck

Looking at the usual contents in their “bought off the shelf in blisters form” it’s costlier than a couple of packs of dairylea.. or even £78. This makes a 13% saving for the starting gamer which is actually more than I thought it would be considering this starter does look smaller than the others.

Moving up to the PHR Large Army and we have;

1x Poseidon Heavy Dropship

3x Neptune Medium Dropships

2x Triton A2 Strike Dropships

4x Ares Battle Walkers

2x Phobos Battle Walkers

2x Juno A1 APCs

2x Juno A2 APCs

2x Zeus Command Walkers

4x Janus Scot Walkers

8x Immortals stands

1x Athena Air Superiority Fighter

1x 40 card full colour Command Card deck

This set looks like quite an upgrade over the initial starter army, ok you might expect that when it’s costing you twice as much but let’s break it down. Assuming I can use the Windows calculator and the website correctly the blister packs would come to £169.50 for the bundle shown above. Grabbing the Large Army deal then represents a cyborg-friendly saving of around 17.5% which is halfway between the Shaltari and UCM that I’ve already looked at. Again I have to say that I like what you get in here, Dave really has put together some tasty bundles. I’d still suggest that for anyone on the fence about which bundle to grab the Large Army deals seem like a really good place to make sure you’ve got a really nice force that won’t mean you’re rushing down the shops to grab more models once the postman has given you that first taste.

Finally, the aptly named PHR Mega Army made for those with a lot of cash to burn, the upside being you won’t buy anything else for at least a week!

2x Poseidon Heavy Dropships

4x Neptune Medium Dropships

2x Triton A1 Strike Dropships

2x Triton A2 Strike Dropships

2x Ares Battle Walkers

4x Phobos Battle Walkers

2x Juno A1 APCs

2x Juno A2 APCs

2x Odin Heavy Walkers

2x Enyo Siege Walkers

2x Hyperion Heavy Walkers

4x Janus Scout Walkers

2x Zeus Command Walkers

2x Taranis MLRS Battery

8x Immortals stands

4x Sirens stands

2x Athena Air Superiority Fighters

1x 40 card full colour Command Card deck

Once more those people gunning for the largest of the deals are getting their hands on everything for that faction right from the off. For those of a nervous disposition look away now as you’d be laying down £270 on the nose. The £50 you save in the deal works out to a 20% saving, the lowest so far on offer from the three races we’ve reviewed but still that’s a fifth off and still leaves you with another £20 in your pocket if you go with the Premium version.

Hopefully having all this laid out will allow Carabus to sleep easy and the family of those young, West-country maidens to put their strange rituals on hold for a time. Look out tomorrow when we get to the last of the offerings, the parasitic Scourge.

  1. In the Mega army deal you do not get the Menchit Battle Walkers, they are not on the list so you don’t get every model, but i’ll still get it 🙂

    Total £275.00 saving £55

If you buy the Premium at £250 you save £25 and get the carry case as well. It’s a bargin!

  2. If I had the money, I’d get the the whole shabang. Sadly, this game has me priced out of the dream of getting even a start of each army on launch. I’m not complaining about the cost, rather my pay grade!

No matter. in time, I’m sure I’ll have massed more than one faction and maxxed out at least the PHR (my first foray is PHR). So, I got the starter and some extra support units. Three of us here in the US have done this – jumped in with starters with equal parts of support (artillery and air support). So, come August, we’ll be going head to head: Scourge vs Shaltari vs PHR.

Have to say, PHR won me over on Mechs and general “coolness” look of the units. I hope they hit has good as they look.

  3. Hi Kenn, I could not agree more on the look of the PHR, there is just a “Coolness” about them 🙂

    Awesome!!

      1. Well that depends? If we have a must be painted on the table rule… You will never kill any 😛
